Champlain Monuments has deep roots in Vermont dating all the way back into the 1880s. Originally called W.M. Barrett Marble and Granite Works, William Barrett and his team provided the area with the highest quality cemetery memorials that stand in our cemeteries to this day.
Located at the foot of Kingman St. at 48 Federal St. in Saint Albans, the shop was a stone's throw away from the active railroad switchyard, making granite and marble deliveries from Barre and Proctor very cost effective.
After William Barrett passed in 1942, his business partner continued on until the business was purchased by George Buckley. Mr. Buckley operated under the name Champlain Memorials throughout the 1960s up until 1973, when it was sold again, this time to James B. Pignona.
